The Star Academy Program™ is a block-scheduled school-within-a-school that addresses state standards and course requirements in four core areas: English/Language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics. Students may receive up to eight credits in one year.
Each course provides disengaged students, typically overage eighth- and ninth-graders, who have failed one or more grades the opportunity to obtain core subject credits and accelerate to the 10th grade in one academic year. Courses include a combination of delivery structures and differentiated methods that reengage students in relevant learning experiences.
The Star Academy Program can be implemented as 40-, 80-, or 120-student solutions. Two or four dedicated classrooms are required for the program.
The curriculum in a Star Academy Program enables students to receive up to 8 credits in the following core subject areas:
English/language arts
Social Studies
Science
Mathematics
